There's always a fiesta in San Miguel so join in!

Birthday of Independence hero Ignacio Allende, 21 st. January

Holy Week celebrations with the traditional procession of silence, March - April

Feast of St. Anthony of Padua with its extravagant parade of the "Crazy".

The National Brass and Wool Fair, attracting visitors from al over Mexico, second fortnight in November.

Sanmiguelada, for the brave and the bold the running of the bulls Pamplona style is definitely an exercise for the fleetly! Other mortals may watch the proceedings from the safety of balconies (September).

Christmas Celebrations Mexican style with Posadas held throughout the town.

International Events

As a mecca for artists worldwide, San Miguel's Ignacio Ramirez Cultural Institute and Allende Institud hold exhibitions throughout the year. The International Camber Music Festival held during the first two weeks of August has attracted many fine exponents. Another event of note is the Winter Festival of Classic Music during the second fortnight of December.

Tourist Attractions

The neighborhood of "El Chorro" with its colonial buildings and gardens offers its solitude to reflexive though.

Other buildings to be admired are:

The Church of San Francisco.
The Church of Santa Cecilia.
The Chapel of San Felipe Neri.
The Church of Health in front of the Civic Plaza.

The neogothic Parish Church of St. Michael the Archangel has become the symbol of the city, on one side of the church with its catacombs one finds the Allende House, now a museum.  

Handicrafts

A five minute walk from the main garden brings you to the Handicraft Market where the hardworking artisans of San Miguel have excelled in the production of paper mache, woolen articles, ceramics, blown glass and stone work. So now you know ...San Miguel in the State of Guanajuato....... Is something else!
